I looked up the address to see if it was in the same freeway-underpass neighborhood I guessed it was (I was right; I don't know what "down town" is supposed to mean here) and this motel still exists as the Civic Center Motor Inn. Sadly it doesn't look this fabulously retro now.

I thought it looked sort of recognizable — but hard to believe the hills used to be visible. (It's been at least six years since i've been in SF, probably more, so memory very fuzzy).

The layout itself looks like a motel in a neo-noir or crime drama, where it's now a run-down residential drug haven or somethin'.
