I was home after a walk around Mary Beth Doyle and a stop at the library, having restarted the dryer (I'm gonna whip this laundry wildness into shape) & opened my lovely new Dutch oven, and I looked at the clock, here after dark, and it was all of 5:30 and a little.  Sure felt more like 7 or 8.  But that may be cuz I got up early, considering when I went to bed.  Not early for regular people.

Anyway, I make not inaugurate the new Marquette Casting with mac & cheese tonight, as I'm kinda spent.  Happily I finally found something instead of finding that I couldn't find yet another thing---this time it was the various lace duster thingies I'd ordered to try for the cabaret, knowing I'd be returning a bunch.  When it came time to pack 'em up, I couldn't find 3 of them.  I'd already been frustrated because, though I'd noted on little fake post-its (cuz I couldn't find post-its) which came from which package & yes-no-maybe,  the labels on the plastic packages say (if they even have words) something other than what the item is called online, which is itself different from what the return label inserts say--- and they have to be returned in multiple packages, sez the monster seller (you-know-who).

I'd been all over the place, and finally got it in my head I must've put the first 3 (solid rejects) someplace the cats couldn't get to them, as Dizz-Bud likes to chew on plastic.  Periodically I'd think of a place I might've stashed 'em---in the music cabinet! (family name for it; only contains a little music)---but no.  Then this afternoon I thought I'd try this hanging shelf thing in the back bedroom closet, where I usually keep off-season clothes that I want to get at first when it's that season again.  But on the way, lo!, there they were:  on top of the refrigerator.

[livejournal.com profile] fflo could really use a place for everything, or even most things.  Or just significantly more things.

One of my to-do things for this break is to lay hands on some instruments.  Just before posting this, I put a newer guitar strap on Robbie's old acoustic & tuned it up.  Got my new vibraphone o-ring belts from the guy who sells those the other day, AND I know where they are, so within a few days I hope to be playing that thing with the motor running for the first time in years.  Then if I want to sell it I'll at least get something like what it's worth.  (Funnily enough, I'm more attached to my mallets than to the instrument.  The thought of those becoming obsolete for me, and getting rid of those, is much harder.)

I think I'm going to take the suggestion to move my evaluation meetings to the Conference Room.  The 7-day average in this county is now, as of this week, higher than it's been during the whole run of the pandemic.  Sure, I'm boosted and all, but, hey.  Meanwhile the chorus is thinking of singing in January without masks.  I mean, there are lots of precautions, but that'd be 80 people all around me spewing air.

Of course, at least 1 in 7 people in Michigan have been infected already.  In the end maybe we'll all get it.  Or if you're one of the 1 in 10 or 1 in 50 who haven't yet, what are the odds that the other people will give a shit about you?  ...  But I'm not thinking of repeated infections.

Really does feel like that spiky monster will be killing us for as long as I'm still around, and then some.

I had to buy Season 3 (in progress) of Joe Pera.  Suddenly I don't get the cartoon channel, which is what it's on, though it's not a cartoon.  You know how networks are--- they don't want to be too on-the-nose after a few years.  If MTV kept playing music videos, that would've been stale or something.  So there are already 4 or 5 Joe Peras this year.  I watched one last night, and am going to do only one a night.  But last night's somehow wasn't as good as I'd hoped.  It was (ostensibly) about trying out recliners (they're all only ostensibly about something).  I think the guy playing Joe's friend was somehow un-suspending my disbelief.  I dunno.  Maybe next time I'll see more of Joe's weird girlfriend.  That'd be good.  And/or I'll be more in the mood for the poetry of it, and maybe it'll be a more poetic one.
