There's an online postcard auction going on right now, with cards from Mary Martin, a postcard person/shop not too far from my old home, Baltimore.  I've won 2 inexpensive lots already and have high hopes for one or two more.

Thought I'd share with you a couple of the curiosities I didn't win (or bid on).  First, in the category of Leather Bears but Not That Kind of Leather Bear(s), here's a set that just went for $30.  Click for bigger, as usual.  The cards themselves are leather (the PO used to be a lot more flexible). I like (besides the message on the bear family's sampler) that they give guidance on what to do by the day (I know my mother's parents' family/generation had bread making day and laundry day and of course church day).

There's an upcoming very small lot of cards with actual buttons attached to them for faces, and little quatrains about the characters they're depicting.  I'll share one (whose right edge is cut off in the auction image) (dig how they are careful to explain the joke in the poem) here---

---and put the rest (including a cringey racist one) under this cut. )

The pre-live-action high bid on the Button Family (plus two similarly button-faced placecards for a dinner party) is $30. How high do you think it will go?
