I’ve driven past it several times. And even passed it on the auto train when I came to Florida in January. But I’ve never stopped there. Maybe on my way back north?

I know!

You should stop, if only to experience it. And to tell us whether the sombrero room is still there. Back in the mid-'90s it was still much like it was in the '60s and '70s, or so it seemed.

I remember now that some friends and I took footage for a film about driving south to that border to buy fireworks more potent than those sold in Maryland. Of course we took shots of signs for Pedro's. But one funny thing was that Virginia and NC had more impressive fireworks, too, so we were aware of the semi-pointlessness of the trip.

Anyway, the thought just had me looking up options for converting old video to digital. It might be fun to re-edit that movie as a look-back kind of piece. And to see the footage again.

Hah! I actually drove past the place on the way from Cape Canaveral to DC. We stopped for a few minutes, and I think looked around a bit for cheezy souveniers, but nothing grabbed us.
