I remember the U of Mich natural history museum used to have this really cool enlarged pond life diorama that looked enough like that for me to wonder if that's were the postcard is from.

This one's from the Stamford Museum & Nature Center, located in Stamford, Connecticut, which is an art, history, nature, and agricultural sciences museum, according to the internet. And considering the postcard itself, it's probably from the late '60s or the '70s.
