It will be on a lime green wall (with a blue wall nearby, and later a lavender wall even nearer by), above a rectangular slab of (largely red) multi-colored mosaic that vaguely represents watch/clock inner workings.  So I *think* I'd like it to be round, but not necessarily.  And my general inclination is simple, with arabic numerals in a pleasing font.  But I'm not married to any of that.

Do you like any of these?
(a) metal/cage mesh (b) rocket round

(c) rocket not round(d) robot

(e) retro (f) metal oval-ish

(g) translucent, blue (h) translucent, white

(i) simple    (j) Grand Hotel

(k) blue Telechron (l) school

I love clocks that can double as wall art (the robot and rocket being super awesome) but for function, I really like retro and the metal ovalish one. Big, easy to see numbers. We have a great bicycle clock on our bookshelf but sometimes I wish the numbers were larger so I could see it across the room easily, where we most usually are.

I am viscerally drawn to B, Rocket Round. K, blue Telechron wins for legibility. Non-round ones somehow bother me--like they demand extra mental processing to read.

I like (f) best, and (j) also grabbed me.

I like the rockets and robots, but I am having a hard time, mentally, actually hanging them on the wall.

I would choose (b) or (f), depending on whether you want to feel like a kid or an adult.

Actually, I prefer one of these :

This point about visibility is an important one. I cut some from consideration that I liked for that reason, like this one:

But some of those left in the running might be not really easy enough to read from across the room. Now that my old clock has died, I realize how much/often I use the spot on the wall to tell me the time, and how irritating it feels to have to dig my phone out of my pocket.

Ha. I like what you say of non-round ones.

:)

I have one of the black ones of those somewhere, still, I think, in a box. My mother gave it to me when I was an adult. I had it in a kitchen in Kansas, at least. And in the old apartment I was in up here. She said she'd loved watching the tail swing when she was a kid.

You should go dig it out.

Well, I guess I just think of it as a kitchen thing, and there's no place for it in my current kitchen (shelves block the spots I'd hang it, with the tail going down). But I suppose there is one spot on the wall it might fit, though the tail magic wouldn't be as good. Once I paint that area. Which is maybe not even going to be this year.

I'm certain you can find a spot for it!

Crap. All of them. Is that a choice? If not, it should be.

OK, I'll narrow down to five:

B
C
D
F
J

Now to three:

C
D
F

I can't do more than that for you, because I'm in love with them. IT'S LIKE ASKING ME TO PICK MY FAVORITE KID! NoOooOoo!
