It's worth seeing, fer sure, if only for the atmosphere. I have my ups & downs with Altman---was way disappointed by McCabe & Mrs. Miller, after hearing it so highly touted. (Oh, I can grant you that for its time it was probably quite something new, but that doesn't make it good.) I often find his particular "realist" thing disturbing, too, in a way that cuts into my ability to be entertained. Like in Nashville, even. But the alienated feel works well for this throw-backy detective. And the early 70's should be sorta pot-smokey-fuzzy in atmosphere, don't you think?
